Measuring instruments

Purpose

Vernier instruments are used to measure linear dimensions by the absolute method and to transfer dimensions when marking out parts. This name covers a large group of measuring tools, namely vernier calipers, vernier depth gauges, vernier height gauges and so on.

Micrometer instruments

Micrometer instruments are widely used to measure external and internal dimensions and the depth of grooves and holes. They work on the screw and nut principle: a precision micrometer screw rotates in a fixed micro-nut. All micrometers have a scale division of 0.01 mm, except lever micrometers, which have a scale division of 0.002 mm. The measuring range of plain micrometers depends on the size of the frame: 0-25, 25- 50, …, 275-300, 300-400, 400-500, 500-600 mm.

Vernier protractors

  • Protractors are divided into protractor-type (models 2UM, 5UM, 4UM) and universal ones.
  • PROTRACTOR-TYPE BEVEL GAUGES are designed to measure the external angles of various parts. Their design also allows parts to be marked out on a flat surface.

The UNIVERSAL BEVEL PROTRACTOR consists of a base carrying the main scale with a division of 1°, a sector with a vernier fixed to it, a square mounted on the sector with a clamp, and an interchangeable rule joined to the square by a clamp. The measuring rule is rigidly connected to the base, and the sector can move relative to the base together with the vernier. A locking screw is used to fix the measuring rule.

Thread gauges

  • Thread templates used to measure thread pitch by comparison.

The measuring instruments are used in laboratory classes in the following courses: metrology, instrument engineering technology, diagnostics and reliability of automated systems and others.
