Dial indicator head
Laboratory of Instrument Engineering Technology, Room 293, building 1

Purpose
Lever-mechanical devices convert small dimensional deviations into pointer movements along a scale that are easy to read. As a rule, they are designed to measure the dimensions of parts by the relative method. If the dimensions of a part are smaller than the indication range of the device, measurements can be made by the absolute method. The main types of mechanical transmission used in these devices are lever, gear, lever-gear, spring and lever-spring transmissions.
Room 293, building 1Description and specifications
Indicator heads are used to measure dimensions and also deviations of parts from the specified geometric shape, such as ovality, runout, lobing, straightness and so on. Indicator heads are mounted on stands or tripods.
