The department runs two student clubs where students gain practical skills that are in demand in manufacturing and IT while they are still studying. Participation is free and open to students of any year.
KPI Technopolis club
The club is based at the KPI Technopolis research and training centre. Students learn to operate modern CNC machine tools, prepare cutting tools and inspect parts the way it is done in real production.

What we study
- Design, operating principles and control of CNC machine tools (Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain)
- Cutting tools, indexable inserts and thread cutting technologies
- Tapping arms, shrink-fit equipment and thread rolling systems
- Metrology, inspection of dimensions and surface roughness, use of measuring instruments
Knowledge and skills you gain
- Knowledge of metal-cutting machine tools and how they work
- Knowledge of cutting tools
- Ability to use metrology and auxiliary production equipment (tapping arms, shrink-fit machines, tool presetters, etc.)
Club activities
- Hands-on experience of operating a machine tool
- Practical work with cutting tools and their preparation for use
- Practical use of measuring instruments and inspection methods
- Involvement in the production processes of industrial companies
Club alumni work at: Technopolis, Ukroboronprom, Progresstech Ukraine, DTEK, Hydrosila, Artem, Ukrmetrteststandard.
