Under the supervision of Professor H. S. Tymchyk and with his participation, 37 contract and state-funded research projects have been completed. They focused on specialised laser methods and information and measurement systems for monitoring the technical condition and parameters of dynamic systems and objects. He created a new class of laser spectral correlation systems based on passive Fabry-Perot resonators for real-time monitoring of part quality and the condition of process equipment in precision instrument making.
Prototypes of these laser optoelectronic digital systems have been put to practical use in quality control systems for precision instrument parts, in laser medical irradiators for clinics, and in systems for diagnosing the condition of production equipment. These developments were shown at a range of thematic exhibitions at the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR and of the Ukrainian SSR and received medals and diplomas as outstanding research and technical achievements.
The scientific and practical results of this work have been published in 454 research papers and 36 monographs and textbooks, including 83 inventions, 7 of which are patented in 17 leading countries. Some of the work has appeared in leading journals in the USA, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Sweden and Italy.
Professor H. S. Tymchyk has supervised 12 PhD (Candidate of Technical Sciences) theses. He currently supervises 2 PhD students and 2 external degree applicants.
