EV8031/AVR (LCD) training board
Laboratory of Instrument Engineering Technology, Room 287, building 1

Purpose
The EV8031/AVR hardware and software system is intended for teaching programming courses (Assembler, C) and as a software development tool for controllers based on the MCS-51 series single-chip microcomputer and on AVR microcontrollers.
Room 287, building 1Description and specifications
The board is built on modern components. It has two standard RS-232C ports, serial Flash memory with an I2C interface, and 64 KB each of program memory and data memory. The system and peripheral interfaces make it possible to use the board for debugging any system.
- The system interface includes a full address bus (16 lines), a data bus, interrupt lines, memory control signals and power circuits.
The peripheral interface consists of a parallel transceiver chip (24 input/output lines), the P1 port lines of the single-chip microcomputer (8 bidirectional lines), interrupt lines, timer/counter lines and a power circuit.
It has an RS485 interface, a 4-digit dynamic display, room for expansion, and can take temperature sensors, a real-time clock, a programming connector for AVR processors and a connector for an LCD display.
The board comes with
- i8051 processor
EEPROM (AT24C02)
- Static 4-digit display
- Discrete display (8 digits)
- RS-232 interface (2 channels)
- RS-485 interface
- 3*4 matrix keypad
- Discrete buttons, 2 pcs (lines INT0, INT1)
- PC connection cable, COM DB-9 or USB
- EV8031/AN or EV8031/AU expansion board
- The training board is used in the course «Microprocessor Technology. Microprocessor Architecture, Microcontrollers» in the following computer lab sessions
- Introduction to the microprocessor. Working with memory and machine code
- Introduction to input/output ports. Simulating the microcontroller on a computer
- Software implementation of time delays
- Study of the timer/counter
- Interaction of the microcontroller with external logic circuits
- Logic instructions. Interaction of the microcontroller with external devices
The aim of the computer lab sessions is to give students a solid knowledge of the architecture, design principles, operation and programming of microprocessors and computers. During the course, students learn to design the hardware and software of microprocessor systems.
