🔥🔥 Practice-oriented learning in action: classes begin at KPI-Technopolis. The KPI-Technopolis Education and Research Centre has started its work.
Classes began on 21 April. Over the next few months, experienced specialists from the Technopolis Innovation and Technology Centre will run a series of practical sessions, introducing participants to modern technologies and the latest metalworking equipment.
The first participants were 4th-year students of the CITIM department who are doing their industrial placement at the Technopolis Innovation and Technology Centre, along with everyone else who wished to join.
📌 Day 1: equipment
🔸 Participants were introduced to CNC machines and tooling, in particular solutions from Emco GmbH: their capabilities, how they are used and approaches to efficient machining.
📌 Day 2: tools
🔸 The main focus was on cutting tools for turning. We looked at the key tool types, their geometry, how to choose tools for different tasks and how they affect quality and productivity.
🔹 Much of the time was given to practice: participants analysed real cases of tool use and discussed typical situations on the shop floor.
📌 Day 3: metrology
🔸 We covered the basics of measurement, accuracy and errors, and the specifics of using measuring instruments in mechanical engineering. Particular attention was paid to vernier calipers: their design, how they work and how to use them correctly.
🔹 Lively discussions and hands-on practice helped participants learn the material better.
