HISTORY HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT Department of Instrument Making Technology (name at the time of creation) was founded in 1968 by the order №183 of April 9, 1968, of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Ukrainian SSR from and by the order №88A, April 18, 1968, of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s rector. The department provided the educational process for technological training of instrument-making specialists. At the beginning of its activity, the Department of Instrument Making Technology provided the educational process in technological disciplines for four departments of the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering and the Faculty of Automation and Electrical Instrument Making and, since 1994, also for the Faculty of Management and Marketing. In 1979, the Department of Instrument Making Technology began education in the specialty “Technology of instrument making” and graduation of specialists according to the List of specialties of the Ministry of Education of Ukrainian SSR, and since 1999, also in the new thing “Medical devices and systems.” After the renaming (by order №1-29 of March 20, 1997), the department received a new name – Department of Instrumentation Design and Engineering (IDE). The founder of the Department was Professor Doctor of Technical Sciences Volodymyr Ostafiev. Volodymyr Ostafiev was an Honored Worker of the Higher School of Ukrainian SSR, Academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, a Full Member of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), Laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR. He was a well-known scientist and founder of a scientific school researching physical problems of mechanical processing of materials in technological processes of manufacturing precision parts of devices and information-measuring systems. From 1995 to 1997, the Head of the Department was Professor Doctor of Technical Sciences Valentine Rumbeshta. Valentine Rumbeshta was an Honored Worker of Higher Education in Ukraine and an academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine. He was a famous scientist in the field of research and development of precision systems for diagnosing technological equipment and tools in instrumentation. In 1999, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine G. Tymchyk was elected Head of the Department. From 2015 to 2019, Vadym Shevchenko, Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, was appointed Acting Head of the Department. Since 2019, Professor Victor Antonyuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, and Laureate of the Prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of the Development and Implementation of innovative technologies has been acting as Head of the Department of Instrumentation Design and Engineering. In 2022, Mykhailo Bezuglyi, a doctor of technical sciences professor, was elected the head of the Department of Instrumentation Design and Engineering. On July 1, 2023, the department has the name “Department of Computer-Integrated Technologies of Device Production” (Rector’s Order No. NU/40/2023 dated 03-23-2023) measuring systems.
